Kim Hughes, MA, EdS

Resident in Counseling

Kim is a Resident in Counseling and current doctoral student in the Counselor Education Ph.D. program at William & Mary. Kim obtained her M.A. and Ed.S. degrees from James Madison University. She has provided counseling services at both a college counseling center and community mental health agency.



Kim has supported children, adolescents, adults and family systems in individual, group, and community settings. She has robust volunteer experience working with children and adolescent navigating grief and offering text-based support to individuals in crisis.

 

While Kim’s theoretical orientation is grounded in humanism, she utilizes an integrated approach to counseling to best support the needs and presenting concerns of every client. Her inventions include, but are not limited to, play modalities, expressive therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), existential therapy, and narrative therapy. Kim’s approach embraces individual autonomy and worth, recognizes that we are people-in-context, and celebrates the uniqueness of every individual’s lived experience.
